The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs staff expect an unusually high number of proposals to be submitted on campus in response to ARRA opportunities. In addition to the increase on campus, the volume of proposals nationally will be extremely large, and the electronic submission system—grants.gov—will experience tremendous traffic which will inevitably lead to delays.
In order to ensure that your proposal is reviewed adequately and processed before the deadline, please follow the steps listed below:
- Work with the Office of Proposal Development to identify programs that meet your research interests and to develop a proposal in response to a RFP. The turnaround time could be as short as 45 days. Contact: Pollyanne Frantz
- Communicate with the Office of Sponsored Programs to inform them of your intention to apply to an ARRA -funded program. Forward the program guidelines to the office staff. Contact: Susan McCracken
- Read the program guidelines thoroughly. The requirements for ARRA proposals can vary significantly from "regular" proposal guidelines. Contact: Susan McCracken
- Once you have written your proposal, contact the Sponsored Programs staff for assistance with finalizing the proposal for submission. Contact: Susan McCracken
Note: If you have been asked to serve as a subcontractor on an ARRA-funded project, you will need to have your scope of work and budget reviewed and approved by the Sponsored Programs staff prior to sending to the lead institution or organization.
Remember to...
- Make sure that your formal proposal is submitted to the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) at least 5 business days before the federal deadline. ORSP cannot guarantee that proposals submitted after the internal deadline will be thoroughly reviewed before submission—and late proposals might be submitted “as is.”
- Submit only complete proposals.
- Understand that proposals will be reviewed and processed in the order in which they are submitted to ORSP.
- Include the acronym “ARRA” in the proposal title when you complete the Internal Processing Form
